How to use hexeditor to convert Shenmue's save from US to UK (EU/PAL) |

If you want to modify the content of a save not described in this example you must:
be familiar with hexeditors such as Hex Workshop
exactly know the content of your save, the offset of the data you want to change and the value to put
backup your file to another VMU or to your PC first |
| Select the "Open VMU" option in the main menu. |
|
| Select the VMU containing the file to hexedit. |
|
| Select the "File manager" option. |
|
| The VMU you selected will be scanned. When the scan is finished a list of files will be displayed. Select the file you want to hexedit in the list. |
|
| Select the "Hexeditor" option. |
|
What follows is specific to the save you want to hexedit.
Here we will see how to hexedit US Shenmue save to make it compatible with UK (EU/PAL) Shenmue 2. |
| Scroll down and move the cursor until "offset" shows "0x00683". |
|
| Replace "55 FA 00" with "45 0E 01" (either with the keyboard or the pad). |
|
| Jump to offset "0x00689". |
|
| Replace "00" with "58". |
|
| Press Start to save changes. |
|
| Press start to fix checksum (needed by some games). |
